My picks for dark lips

8 Aug

At this point, it’s pretty much impossible to deny that the fall is fast approaching. Everywhere I turn there’s some sort of back-to-school special. I’ve even seen a few crunchy leaves on the ground. This is mostly a good thing. I like sweaters, warm drinks, less-frizzy hair, and new pencils. And while I’ll miss the lazy summer days of reality television and nail-painting, I’m excited for the coming season.

I’m also excited to start doin’ my lips dark, which feels perfect for autumn as it matches the changing leaves. But I understand that a severely dark lips takes a lot of confidence to pull off. So here are my top picks for dark lips, ranging from the subtlest to boldest.

  • Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, $13.50. This cult classic is a cult classic for a reason. I’ve been hearing about this staple for ages, and how it really looks good (and different) on everyone. This is quite true– it works with absolutely every coloring. And it goes on smooth and slightly sheer, so you can layer it for a more dramatic look.

  • Fresh Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment, $22.50. I love this stuff, because it does so much good stuff for your lips. Nourishes, repairs, soothes, plumps, protects, and colors. And the color is really fabulous– a deep, almost purplish hue that blends so nicely with your own lip color. This back-to-school essential is def more important than pencils and notebooks.

  • Nars Satin Lipstick, in Rouge Basque, $24.50. I am kind of having a love affair with Nars lipstick. I especially like their satin lipstick, which goes on super creamy and silky and lasts pretty much forever .The color is full-bodied, and I especially like Rouge Basque, which will give you the ultimate dark and seductive lip for fall.
